Former TSE design director Tess Giberson is launching her first stand-alone store on Crosby Street tomorrow, a 600-square-foot space minimally outfitted with pale wood floors, white brick walls, and simple wrought-iron rolling racks. As seems to be the recent trend — Agnes B opened a boutique-plus-gallery on Howard Street last month — the store will also host rotating art installations, including a collage of spring look-book images by Giberson’s husband, artist Jon Widman. Though she founded her eponymous collection in 2001, this is Giberson's third season back since taking a two-year hiatus to design for TSE. The spring collection incorporates a largely neutral color palette of black, white, and gray, with splashy bolts of yellow and navy blue thrown in. The focus is on high-end fabrics and modern silhouettes, including draped silk dresses and skirts, tailored jackets, feathery knits, and leather detailing. Apart from Giberson’s own collection, the boutique will stock a range of design books by photographers and artists like Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki, and Yuki Kimura, jewelry by Nihn Wysocan, and sunglasses by Hisham Bharoocha. Interning at nonprofits has become popular. Lauren Scherr, an intern at The Case Foundation, provided a video for future interns, Making the most of your internship. Scherr says, "We created a short video to document the highlights of our experiences as well as to share our tips for success at any internship, whether in the nonprofit/philanthropic sector or elsewhere."

Job seekers really should get The Nonprofit Times' 50 Best Nonprofits To Work For 2011. It costs but only $7.95. The top nonprofit? The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in Jacksonville, Fla. The Times' article says, "Steven Nardizzi, president & CEO of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in Jacksonville, Fla., doesn't just try to encourage his employees to find fun in their work. He awards them."

Confused about the finer points of CSR? For GrantWriters Only has a post about the differences between Corporate Philanthropy, Corporate Sponsorship, Cause Marketing, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Author Melanie Negrin writes, "As grant professionals, we are often asked about seeking money (or in-kind donations) from corporations, and many organizations believe that obtaining money (or in-kind donations) from corporations involves a single approach. This is not the case."

Robin Stephenson, writing at Ragan.com, explains 10 ways nonprofits should use Twitter. She says, " Tweeting is a great way for nonprofits to spread their message, yet not many know how to leverage it. Here are 10 techniques for getting the most out of the platform."

Purple Duck University devoted the latest issue of its newsletter to social media for nonprofits. See especially, Why Facebook for your Non-profit? The intro says, Facebook "is one of the most powerful and viral ways for organizations like yours to connect with your target audience, share your story and participate in real-time conversations quickly and easily."

Philantopic slices and dices all the most recent data about corporate foundations in Key Facts on Corporate Foundations. The article says, "... just over half (52 percent) of corporate foundations responding to the Foundation Center's annual forecasting survey expect to increase their giving in 2011."

The sad truth is that nonprofits continue to face funding challenges. Fieldstone Alliance provides 185 Cutback Strategies. And this list is only a partial one! They are nicely catagorized though to make for easy reading, if not easy implementation.

Our number one culinary crush, Top Chef's Sam Talbot, has gotten us feeling fishy in this exquisite new sustainable Soho eatery. Located within the Mondrian Hotel (which makes the urban trellis entrance even more magical), Imperial No. 9 is officially our new seafood standby. With decor that mixes Baccarat classicism with a secret garden, we could easily linger for hours, nibbling on the small plates and sipping the almost too-drinkable libations.

With two main eating areas—a cozy and plush interior on one side and a spacious, brightly lit A-frame garden—the restaurant is perfect for every lunch with the parents or a romantic dinner. The menu, based around the small portion craze, is loaded with eclectic choices like seared scallops with pickled melon or raw Hiramasa yellowtail with frozen coconut will certainly leave diners feeling refreshed, not full. While it certainly privileges the sea, don't skip out on the incredible vegetarian entrees, like the rich squash, cous cous and egg or a palette cleansing portion of cucumber kim chee.

With a sophisticated menu, egg white-frothed drinks, and ornate crystal chandeliers abound, it's easy to forget you are right off of the bustle of Canal Street. The Henry VIII-style furniture is certainly playful, and not pretentious, and to keep with the airy milieu of the evening, try an outfit that blends elegance and whimsy. Go classical, but punch it up with one piece of poppy, bright color. Add a statement accessory and a geometric shoe, and you're set for a dreamy evening. Oh, don't forget to try the No. 6 gin and lavender cocktail--we can already tell, it's our new summer drink.

Once the booze-soaked brunch Bagatelle (don't worry, your Croque Madames with truffled béchamel are still in tact), Beaumarchais has reopened solely under the direction of Nicolas Cantrel. Though the menu isn't strictly Parisian (club salad, anyone?), it certainly has a Gallic flavor, and the white tablecloths, red seating and lush florals help give the spot a je ne sais quoi. Luxury, excess, indulgence: at this Meat Packing brasserie, these aren't sins, but celebrated necessities.

Dining at Beaumarchais certainly shouldn't be a weekly event: the buttery food and rich meats would surely wreak havoc on our health, but a French smorgasbord does the soul good. Start off with the rich tartare de boeuf, served on the most perfect truffled toast and alongside a quail egg. The traditional avocado and shrimp cocktail brings us back to the days of sitting at the grown-up's table, but in the best way, served with housemade French cocktail sauce. And speaking of cocktails, Beaumarchais does not mess around. Besides an expertly curated wine list—all Tuscan and French, of course—the bar boasts a delicious selection of sangrias and the Beaumarchais lemonade may be the most refreshing drink we can think of, with cucumber, vodka and mint. For dinner, ignore calories and carbs, and enjoy all the delicious beurre blank served atop the Filet Mignon Béarnaise, a classic, cognac-based steak au poivre and the truly decadent scallops served in a leak fondue and topped with caviar.

All of this cheeky extravagance and French flair deserve a really top notch outfit, so we suggest turning to designers like agnes b. or some vintage Cardin to turn on the Parisian charm. Along with practicing your most coy "Oui ouis", try a swingy bag and a pair of sassy heels, complemented by bright eyes, bold lips and a fresh face. Don't great Breton-inspired undergarments…you know, for dessert.

With oyster bars, mussel factories and small plates being the center of the culinary world the last few years, chefs have nearly forgotten the cuisine that has made diners so willing to go raw in the first place. Sushi is now an American go-to, providing a delicious, refreshing alternative—and a place for gals to get together and gossip over a handroll. While Niko isn't exactly a homey space for comfort food, Chef Hiro Sawatari (formerly of Sushi Yasuda) certainly reminds us why sushi is one of our favorite foods.

The gorgeous, trendsetter-friendly interior feels perfectly Soho; famed designer Rafael De Cárdenas has created a chic, wooden interior while Opening Ceremony favorite Jim Drain has two geometric mobiles extended from the ceiling. For those who don't mind a chef's selection, starting with the raw plates--which range from oysters to yellowtail, is a great way to kick off your meal. Experimenting is key, and while the buttery sashimi is certainly worth it, some of the stranger cooked items, like miso-cured salmon with black sesame miso or the fiery, mouth-tingling slow roast chicken (with a spicy consummé) may steal the show from the raw plates. For veggies, the appetizers offer a non-fish respite, especially the tempura salad handroll, which features a light ginger yuzu dressing and a sweet potato tempura that'll even excite carnivores.

With such super chic surroundings, plus an adventurous, forward-thinking menu, any gal hoping to dine at Niko will have to up her high-fashion game. We immediately think of that duke of downtown design, Alexander Wang, for edgy femininity, but any sky-high heel with a modernist twist will do. Dramatic prints paired with sleek silhouettes will definitely accompany the sharply rendered interior; and remember, whenever you head for haute, keep your beauty routine like you want your sushi: clean, fresh and simple.

These big joint events are as cool as they come. But unlike Indian Wells and Miami, which have wiggle room and start in in the middle of the week, these are essentially one-week events that have to completed on a tight time frame.

A Delicate Balance, London

Edward Albee, towering presence of American theatre, is best known for Who's Afraid Of Virgina Woolf? But he won his first Pulitzer when he returned to family values, love and marriage in the 1966 play A Delicate Balance, a slightly more sober affair. It's set in the home of a high-end Connecticut family, presided over by Agnes and Tobias, who seemingly have an urbane and untroubled life until the genteel facade is ripped apart. Prominent in this are Claire, Agnes's alcohic sister and houseguest, the arrival of a couple fleeing some unnamed threat, plus their daughter, who arrives announcing the collapse of her fourth marriage. Penelope Wilton and Imelda Staunton star in James Macdonald's production.

The Crucible, Belfast

Belfast celebrates this week with the rebirth of the Lyric Theatre, a new landmark building in the city which now includes a main house, a flexible studio as well as educational spaces. The opening two weeks offer a festival of conversations, play-readings, workshops, and a main house revival of Arthur Miller's great play, inspired both by the Salem witch trials and the McCarthyite hearings that attempted to sniff out communist leanings in public figures. Conall Morrison directs the first play in a season that also sees the 30th anniversary revival of Martin Lynch's Dockers, about the Belfast docklands in the 1960s, and two new musicals: Neil Duffield and Conor Mitchell's The Jungle Book and Nicholas Lloyd Webber and James D Reid's The Little Prince.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival

With more than 100 performances over 16 days, the Norfolk & Norwich Festival is now a major player on the British scene. There are some terrific theatre shows on offer including Hilary Westlake's Dining With Alice, Australian circus stars Strut and Fret with Cantina, international theatre from Iran, France and Argentina, plus mind games with Belgian company Ontroerand Goed. There's some fine outdoor performances too, including Graeae's adaptation of Ted Hughes's The Iron Man, and Wired Aerial's As The World Tipped. It kicks off on Friday with Deabru Beltzak's The Wolves, a reworking of the Pied Piper story, complete with huge mechanical puppets and special effects.

This intriguing season opens with Pandora's Box by Ade Solanke, which poses the dilemma of how best to educate one's child, especially in regard to race and culture. On holiday in Lagos, a British-Nigerian mother faces the question of leaving her streetwise son in a strict boarding school in Nigeria or returning him to a troubled British comprehensive. Later in the season, Lydia Adetunji's Fixer focuses on Nigerian oil, and EastEnders actor Arinze Kene, winner of the Off West End Theatre award for most promising playwright for Estate Walls, returns to the Oval House with Little Baby Jesus, three monologues reflecting the lives of three inner-city teenagers at the moment they reach adulthood.

Vagabonding, Cumbria

Walter Wilkinson was a showman and puppeteer who travelled through the UK in the 1920s and 30s, setting up his show on the back of his cart wherever he could find an audience. A series of travelogues he wrote are the inspiration for Gary Bridgens and Phill Gregg's 100 mile-long performance journey which they will undertake during May as part of the Lakes Alive programme. With a small cart laden with puppets, a change of clothes and a tent, Bridgens and Gregg will set out from the historic Piel Island in Cumbria on Tuesday, travel as far as Ambleside, before heading back to their home location of Barrow. Along the way they'll perform in rural communities and visitor attractions, collecting stories and songs along the way and documenting their travels via blog, Facebook and Twitter.

The Vanishing Horizon, On tour

If you want evidence that the Edinburgh Fringe is still a great place to make your mark and get noticed look no further than Idle Motion, a young physical theatre company with a strong filmic style and the ability to create mood and atmosphere. Their 2010 Edinburgh hit – about the early female pioneers of flight – takes off on tour and will come back to land in Edinburgh this summer, where it's been selected to be part of the bi-annual British Council showcase. It's a small but immensely appealing and confident show which uses maps, paper aeroplanes and 40 suitcases to tell an entwining story with real ingenuity and flair, looking at female achievement in both the past and present.

Junction Sampled, Cambridge

A mini festival full of bitesized performances from some of the most interesting young artists and companies around. Junction Sampled offers a first glimpse of new work from companies including The Other Way Works, whose Avon Calling offers an intimate Avon party experience. Maison Foo will be trying out ideas for a piece around libraries and stories, while Non Zero One's The Time Out is about team building. Look out too for Tinned Fingers' The Last Romance Club (Ever), an evocation of loneliness and late night radio; Tim Clare's last ditch attempt at despotism, How To Be A Leader; and Foster & Déchery's Epic, a fanciful journey through the last 100 years. Michael Pinchbeck is on hand to explore exits and entrances in The End, Bill Aitchison will be explaining why The Customer Is Always Wrong, and Brian Lobel will be asking for a minute of your life in return for £1 in Carpe Minuta Prima.

There's no shortage of Macbeths around at the moment, the play taking on a new pertinence with so many dictatorships wobbling around the world. But few have the star power of Gemma Bodinetz's production in Liverpool in which David Morrissey plays the man corrupted by the promise of power. Jemma Redgrave was to have played the scheming Lady M, but has withdrawn and been replaced by Julia Ford. The casting of Morrissey has a local dimension: as a teenager he was a member of the Everyman Youth Theatre – an experience that set him on the road to becoming a professional actor.

"This is Miss Sugar, our new governess. I hope, I trust, she will be happy here …"

While ineffectual housemaid Letty reached for her suitcase, Sugar gulped and scratched her psoriasis. The resulting confetti cloud of dead skin was as close to a celebration as the welcome party would get, but the lack of enthusiasm mattered not. As Sophie Rackham's live-in governess, Sugar had finally secured for herself a respectable position in society. The implications were enormous.

There would be no more humiliating solo luncheons in chilly high-end tearooms. No more desperate afternoon upendings in her airless Marylebone apartment – William pounding frantically at her bustle with his britches around his ankles while she calculated the printing costs for the latest Rackham Perfumery catalogue. Instead, here was respectability! Responsibility! A marginally less degrading setting in which to exchange pre-arranged sexual favours for accommodation and perfunctory employment! In Chepstow Villas, all transactions would be conducted under the society-approved awning of William's astonishing new moustache. Ergo: huzzah!

Nevertheless, it was with trepidation that Sugar crept into the oppressive stillness of the Rackham family residence, where the walls, we discovered, are the colour of liver and the endless corridors snake like veins into clotted darkness. Upstairs, a stream of muffled bumps and whimpers suggested Agnes's Holy Suffering was approaching a climax. On a visit into town, she'd shared her Convent of Health™ fantasies with Mrs Fox, whose black veil could conceal only so many grimaces. "They have provided me with an angel escort", whispered Agnes of her nonexistent benefactors. They were coming to take her away, ha-haaa, and the resulting sojourn did not sound entirely dissimilar to a Champneys Wellbeing Break, frankly, albeit with ad hoc levitating sessions and selfless hallucinatory nuns rather than mini-pedicures and NVQ Beauty Therapy graduates yawning in tabards.

Elsewhere, Agnes's daughter was channelling her loneliness into nightly bedwetting sessions. "You must not worry," soothed Sugar, before gently and brilliantly easing her young charge into a restorative programme of story-reading sessions, cuddles, gardening and lessons in modern feminism ("Women can do all sorts of things these days, Sophie …") Of all the activities she has turned her blotchy hand to, who would have thought it would be exemplary childcare that would prove Sugar's forte?

While the pair gambolled, William's MO continued to swing from endearing fecklessness to infuriatingly self-involved bastardry – the emotional tumult culminating in a scene in which he sprang sobbing, unasked-for sex on his wife as she lay mumbling and bleeding in a drugged, semi-conscious stupor ("I didn't mean to hurt you that first time …") Phwoar! "I need to know I'm not a monster," he snivelled later to Sugar as another layer of permafrost audibly welded itself to her heart. Such self-pity doubtless provided her with an extra incentive to facilitate Agnes's escape. Which, the night before Mrs Rackham was due to check in at Doctor Curlew's Asylum for the Terminally Misdiagnosed, she duly did.

We left poor Agnes hobbling off into the night, bonce freshly shorn and face a picture of tentative, childlike excitement. At the train station, she surveyed with wonder the array of available destinations, although, clearly, it scarcely mattered which one she chose as, for Agnes, all routes were almost certainly heading straight for Doom-on-Sea. It was a desperately sad end to the richest, darkest and most powerful episode to date.

So. What fate might await Agnes, Sugar et al in next week's finale? Your thoughts, observations, hopes and fears below, if you will.

After McG was announced as the director of Platinum Dunes' Ouija, I'd wager just about everyone on the face of the planet let out a collective groan - Universal replaced Brett Ratner on The Wolfman after a huge online outcry, maybe we can pull it off again? Word now comes that Evan Spiliotopoulos has been brought in to work on the script, which was written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Tron: Legacy, Lost). The curious thing about this is that aside from some trashy looking DTV and Made-For-TV films, Spiliotopoulos is known for working on high-profile DTV animated flicks, such as The Lion King 1 1/2, The Jungle Book 2, and Pooh's Heffalump Movie. In his defense, he worked on scripts for Wanted 2 and Agnes Quill, though it remains to be seen how good those ended up being. Regardless, we'll all see how it turns out next November.

Robin Garbutt bludgeoned wife Diana with metal bar as she slept before pretending armed robber had struck

A post office worker who bludgeoned his wife to death while she slept, then concocted a "pure humbug" story about an armed robbery, has been jailed for life after being convicted of murder.

Robin Garbutt, 45, knew his 40-year-old wife Diana had been unfaithful and feared his theft of thousands of pounds from Melsonby village post office was about to be discovered in March last year.

A jury at Teesside crown court rejected his story that a raider with a gun told him "don't do anything stupid, we've got your wife" before robbing him as he worked, and that moments later he discovered her body in bed.

Garbutt was convicted after the jury had deliberated for almost 13 hours and returned a majority verdict.

There was drama as hHis sister collapsed in tears as the verdict was announced. Diana Garbutt's mother, Agnes Gaylor, also wept. Garbutt merely shook his head in response to the verdict.

Mr Justice Openshaw sentenced Garbutt to life in prison and told him he would serve a minimum of 20 years.

"There was no struggle, she never awoke," the judge said. "He struck three savage blows, smashing her skull and causing her immediate death as clearly he intended."

Garbutt hid the weapon across the road, then opened the shop as normal. "He feigned cheerfulness as he served customers as he attempted to deceive them that all was well," the judge added.

He said Garbutt had told the same "ludicrous story from beginning to end".

The judge said the defendant had shown no remorse, adding: "He has always accompanied his lies with sanctimonious lies of his love for her. By their verdict, the jury have exposed this as pure humbug. This was a brutal, planned, cold-blooded murder of his wife as she lay sleeping in bed."

Garbutt struck his wife over the head with a metal bar in the living quarters above the Melsonby village shop and post office in North Yorkshire in the early hours of 23 March 2010.

He opened the shop as normal and served about 60 customers before closing again. He then dialled 999 and claimed his wife had been attacked, crying hysterically.

When a paramedic later told him rigor mortis had already set in, he challenged this, insisting: "She's still warm."

He told detectives that a raider had robbed him, and he had gone upstairs to find his wife motionless on the bed.

Garbutt's story unravelled after officers looked into the couple's apparently happy marriage. They found the couple owed £30,000 in credit card debts and were making little profit in the shop.

They were poised to go on holiday to the US, and Garbutt was thought to have feared a relief postmaster would discover the missing money while they were away.

Openshaw said he believed the murder was motivated by Garbutt's fear of being exposed for stealing from the Post Office. It was significant that his wife had been looking at the business accounts on the night she was killed, the judge said.

Police also discovered that Diana Garbutt had become involved with three other men.

A crucial piece of evidence came from a dinner of fish and chips the couple had eaten on the night before she died. An expert on digestion told the jury Diana Garbutt stopped processing the meal around six to eight hours after she finished eating it – giving a likely time of death in the early hours rather than when Garbutt claimed the robber had struck.

Detective superintendent Lewis Raw, who led the inquiry for North Yorkshire police, said: "It is satisfying that we have been able to secure justice for Diana Garbutt and her family in this most tragic and distressing of cases.

"I hope the murder conviction of her husband Robin Garbutt will provide a measure of comfort and closure, allowing her family to start rebuilding their lives after a very traumatic year."

Gaylor said in a statement: "Diana meant the world to us and we are still struggling to come to terms with what happened to her on that awful day. We loved her with all our hearts, our loss is unbearable."

UK game player advocacy group Gamers' Voice has filed a formal complaint with BBC's Channel 5 over an episode of The Wright Stuff in which violent video games were the topic of discussion. During the show playing violent video games were linked to the shooting of Agnes Sina-Inakoju by Leon Dunkley and Mohammed Smoured. The two have already been convicted for the crime. The pair are members of the London Fields gang, who were responsible for a number of violent acts including the stabbing of 14 year old Shaquille Smith in 2009.

During the show, the host and panel members discussed whether violent games were a significant factor in the boys' behavior. Not making you read yet another review of Dhobi Ghat. Mild spoilers for those who have not seen the movie.

Some scenes just stay with you, like the satisfaction of a fulfilled promise. I will share couple of scenes from Dhobi Ghat that made me sit up and take notice. They run as follows:

Scene #1 Munna comes to Shai’s house to return her cloth he inadvertently tampered. He has rectified his mistake and salvaged himself. She calls him inside. To understand the essence of the scene completely, let’s trace the backgroud of both the characters. Shai is an Investment Banker in USA who has come to India on a sabbatical. She is a bit romantic (aren’t all hobbyists are?), is easily charmed by life, and faces any new experience with alacrity. Then, there is Munna. He is a Dhobi (washer-man). Munna does not even understand what sabbatical means, nor would he probably ever understand. He would also probably never understand the concept of ‘a new perspective’, because when the most rudimentary desires begs for attention, you are in a bubble battling that and cannot afford to look beyond it. Kiran Rao brings these two representavites of their respective world together — under one roof, bonds them over a cup of coffee and weaves a beautiful scene.

The conversation begins by Shai asking Munna, So you like Doors? (Munna is wearing a Doors t-shirt). For Shai, even a simple attire is a mode of expression, some sort of silent declaration to the world regarding one’s tastes. But, does that mean anything to Munna? For him clothes hold a basic meaning — to cover. For all we know, he might have picked it up just because it looked colorful or dhinchaak.

She asks him, So, you are from Mumbai? He replies in negative. He came to Bombay in want of food and has since stayed here. Does he not miss his family, she ponders. Was he not happy with his family there? Munna has nebulous concept of happiness. Being famished as a child, he simplistically equated happiness with the amount of food he used to get. And he used to get way too less. It is a quite sagacious comment on one’s happiness with respect to one’s earning potential. Many a times, the more people earn, the more avenues they seek to be unhappy. Damn! I need that perfect sofa. Once the perfect sofa is acquired, they need that perfect coffee table to go along with it, then that perfect rug, then that promotion, then keeping a balance between the work life and personal life… . Shai’s India’s trip is a quest for checking one of those boxes. So, here are the representative of two different worlds, where every stroke — be it natural or man made (will come to it in the next scene) stands for something strikingly different.

The conversation trudges along and Munna’s hovering eyes notices the camera kept on the table. Are you a photographer? He asks. And then he gazes at the couple of camera lenses on the table. It is a poignant juxtaposition of two different worlds. Munna whose life had been hostage to hunger pangs, for whom creative satisfaction is an alien concept. How do you explain sabbatical to someone whose aim in life (and even that’s not as easily achieved) has been to secure two meals for himself throughout the day? That is the spirit of any metropolis teeming with millions, if you take your camera and run amok with it, and freeze various moments of life captured, this is what you will get. Dreams criss crossing with each other, each on a different level and satiated by a different yardstick. This is the most emphatic achievement of the movie. The soul of Dhobi Ghat lies in these poignant moments stitched together. Kiran Rao doesn’t judge the protagonists here, neither does her camera (no excrucitaingly close up shots trying to milk the pathos), she just puts things as they are. She observes like an innocent, inquisitive kid, simply tring to understand how and why certain things are, the way they are.

Scene #2 Mumbai rains. They have been delineated so many times in movies that over the time they have both become a cinematic device and cliche. But, here Mumbai rains serve a different purpose. In this scene, Arun uses Mumbai’s rain as an aide to smooth his evening (He uses rain drops to soften his whiskey), the same rain in some other part of the city is wreaking havoc on Munna’s house. Even Mumbai rains acquires a different meaning for disparate Mumbai denizens. Human beings be damned, even the rain Gods are partisan.

Scene #3 There is another scene where Agnes (Shai’s housekeeper) wonders why Shai frequents out with Munna. She is at loss to explain what she wants to convey clearly. I mean, he is dhobi, can’t you freaking see? You could almost see Agnes saying this aloud. For her that should be reason enough. In Scene #1, she brings Coffee for Munna in a glass (She serves Coffee to Shai in a Coffee mug). So what if Shai can’t see the difference?

Scene #4 Why does Munna not kiss Shai? Arun and Shai had a moment together, and their night culminated into a predictable finale. What does stop Munna from seizing the moment here? Is it the apprehension of facing an awkward moment if Shai rebuffs him? Or, is it something different? This scene would have had a different flavor to it if Munna and Shai were sharing the same societal pedestal. But, they are not. We as an audience cannot see them having a future together. How can Munna?

Scene #5 I felt uncomfortable for a moment in the aforementioned first scene where Munna was standing in Shai’s living room. Would she offer him a seat? Would he sit on the ground? Would he just stand? There has to be some differentiang factor between a Banker and Washer-man? No? She offers him a seat. He sits. The conflict is resolved readily and easily. But, then during one of Shai’s night outs, she is sitting in the front seat of her friend’s car and she spots Munna standing some distance away with his street peddler friend. Would Shai invite him to hang out with her friends? Would Shai welcome him in the car? (As she did when they were hanging out together) Shai does not even extend a hello to him. Why? Who is she more ashamed of at this instant? Of herself? Of Munna? Of her and Munna’s friendship? Or, the equation she shares with her friends? (“He is just a Dhobi ya!”). What does Shai do ultimately? She tilts her head and sinks into her seat, oblivious of the world that exists on the other side of the car.

The car zips into that part of the city where the party continues till morning. Munna dissolves into a different night of the same city. He has more pressing concerns to address at the moment. He has to take care of some rats.

Awhile back I discovered that the certificate of birth the hospital issued
at my birth wasn't actually a birth certificate, so I sent away to the City
of Boston for mine. It finally arrived today, and I learned a few things
I hadn't know before.

One was that it was 10 1/2 hours from the time my mother was admitted
to the Massachusetts Osteopathic Hospita at 12:12pm until I was born at
10:42 pm, The doctor who delivered me was Dr.John A.Chace. And my
parents were living at 277 Roxbury St in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.

This last part, their residence, is of note. I'd always thought they were living on
Parker St with my mom's mother, Agnes (McFarland)White. So I looked
up the address on Google Maps street view and this is what I found :
