SUMMARY: A dynamic individual with strong organizational and project management skills to oversee foundation day-to-day operations and events across three foundations, three campuses and three communities, three separate groups of volunteers and three boards of directors. This role includes staff supervision, event management and supervision of event staff, budget management, fund management, and interfacing with Bon Secours Charity Health System operations and finance teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interface with hospital operations in how it relates to the Foundation, which includes but is not limited to: strengthened vendor relationships, restricted fund management, Foundation operations, fundraising opportunities, and employee campaigns. Be a presence at all Bon Secours Charity Facilities, attend regular leadership meetings at each campus, and build relationships with hospital and facility employees and leadership.
Oversee all foundation staff operations to ensure successful annual giving programs and special events. This includes, but is not limited to, manage the Development Associate for Special Events and other event staff to ensure detail oriented, timely and successful events, work with committees to direct efforts toward fundraising opportunities, manage Database Administrator to ensure accurate and up to date records and data, and develop timely and strong plans for continued success in the Foundations of Bon Secours Charity Health System.
Manage all restricted funds, and processing of said funds, to ensure appropriate and strong donor stewardship, in integrity with donor rights and the mission and values of the Bon Secours Charity Health System.
Interface with the system finance team to ensure proper accounting of all funds and monies held by the Foundations of Bon Secours Charity Health System, and maintain the strong relationship that has been established.
Build, implement, execute, manage and evaluate multi-faceted special events and supervise the planning, implementation and management of all special events staff, along with volunteer committees, special event fundraisers through out Bon Secours Charity Health System including annual spring ball, golf outings and other cultivation, acquisition and community engagement events.
Work with donors, volunteers, employees, business people and community leaders to build and strengthen annual giving and special events programming for Bon Secours Charity Health System
Develop, coordinate and implement with staff and volunteers all annual giving appeals and recognition, including, but not limited to donor segmentation by giving mechanism and relationship manager; development, briefing of development team and distribution of materials associated with annual giving appeals: direct mail, telemarketing, internet giving, tribute giving, and face-to-face solicitations, as well as a corporate and vendor giving program.
Oversee database administrator/stewardship coordinator to ensure accurate tracking and donor relationship management as it pertains to relationship management by all development staff, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date databases and record keeping.
Prepare winning gift and grant proposals. Work with donors, volunteers, employees, business people and community leaders to identify corporate and foundation grants, as well as identify, research and implement vendor grant and vendor giving opportunities.
Attend internal and external events as needed to meet new prospects, and continue to build and establish relationships with donors and Bon Secours Charity Health System staff and leaders, which may include evenings and weekends as needed.
Actively participates in Foundation programs in a lead role and a key member of the team.
Multi-tasking and management of own time in order to concentrate efforts on priority projects.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee will oversee all Foundation operational staff, separate from campaign staff. This includes, but is not limited to Development Officer, Database Administrator/ Stewardship Coordinator, Data Entry Clerk, and additional staff as added.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to satisfaction of the Executive Director, and all three Foundation boards. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge and experience in Rockland County and/or Orange County Markets, and willingness to leverage those relationships and experience for the benefit of Bon Secours Charity Health System.
A minimum of 5-7 years experience in a development office, with 1-2 years in a supervisory role is needed.
Special Events experience a must, specifically in event planning, management, sponsorship solicitations, and detailed event evaluation and analysis.
Extensive and positive past experience working with volunteers, committees, and boards is required.
Past experience in developing, coordinating and implementing, with staff and volunteers, annual giving appeals, including, but not limited to donor segmentation by giving mechanism and relationship manager; development, briefing of development team and distribution of materials associated with annual giving appeals: direct mail, telemarketing, internet giving, tribute giving, and face-to-face solicitations, grateful patient programs, list management and list trading, as well building of a vendor and corporate giving program.
Prior experience with strategic planning and fundraising program management is necessary.
Individual must have the ability to communicate in an articulate manner with donors, board members, healthcare staff and physicians, as well as prospects, volunteers, business people and community leaders.
Project management and project implementation skills needed for this position. Exceptionally strong organizational skills, project management skills, and ability to multi-task a MUST.
Understanding, working knowledge and experience with budget management and non-profit accounting practices is necessary to be successful in this role.
Knowledge and use of customer/donor database required, preferably Raisers Edge.
Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, as well as strong computer skills specifically in MS Office Suite. Individual needs to be a trusted member of the team, and must be able to maintain confidential information.
Individual must be a self-starter, and be able to manage time strategically as it pertains to prioritization of work load and relationship management
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ideal candidate must be able to manage a team despite potential personality conflicts, in order to ensure the highest success for the organization and smooth well managed operations and events. The ideal candidate projects positive, team attitude as well as be driven and goal oriented. Individual must be willing to approach role and tasks with a commitment to the mission and values of the Bon Secours Charity Health System.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Attend and oversee all Foundation Events, from inception through completion, to ensure successful and well run events and portray a well managed, high-functioning organization. Travel as needed for meetings and work. Work across communities served by all Foundations/ Bon Secours Charity Health System facilities to ensure proper cultivation and stewardship of donors, volunteers, employees, business people and community leaders to build a strong culture of philanthropy and secure major gifts. The Foundations main office is at the Suffern campus, with satellite offices in Warwick and Port Jervis. This position will be based in Warwick and Port Jervis offices.
