Cameron Diaz is up for the lead role of a weight-loss fitness expert in the upcoming film "What to Expect When You're Expecting."

One of the most unappealing film projects being assembled right now is the comedy version [1] of the baby-birthing manual What to Expect When You're Expecting. The book is frequently called out as being alarmist and a poor lesson plan for expectant mothers, but why not use the very recognizable title (recognizable to the target audience, at least) to sell a movie? Not much different from what's happening with Akira, really. Cameron Diaz is now looking like the lead for this particular movie, which Kirk Jones will direct from a swcript by Heather Hach and Shauna Cross. The picture is meant as a Love Actually-style film in which five couples experience the joy and surprises of impending parenthood. The film will hit on Mother's Day weekend next year -- in other words, a year from today. [Deadline [2]] After the break, Kelly Preston becomes a mob wife and Willem Dafoe is in a mystery movie directed by Abel Ferrara. Gotti: Three Generations lost Nick Cassavetes as director, but he was swiftly replaced [3] by Barry Levinson, who is just finishing up his small eco-thriller The Bay. With a shoot planned for later this year, Gotti is pulling together more cast, and Kelly Preston is now signing on to play Victoria Gotti. So she'll play wife to John Gotti Sr., who will be played on screen by John Travolta. Not the weirdest on-screen 'couple playing a couple' we've ever seen, but given that their daughter will play the Gotti's daughter, as well, it's an unusual situation. Are we sure this is about organized crime and not Scientology? Is there a difference? (Zing!) Cameron Diaz recently shared her one rule to live by. "One should dry-hump as much as possible. It leads to great things. I'd prescribe at least once per day. What's also nice about dry humping is that it can happen anywhere," she told Maxim.

I could not agree with Cameron more. Dry humping is the most underrated sexual activity in my opinion. But sometimes I feel like the rest of the world doesn't get it.

Cameron Diaz may be anti-marriage, but she isn't opposed to the idea of having kids. She is rumored to be close to signing on for a movie version of What To Expect When You're Expecting. Yes, as in the pregnancy manual. Lionsgate is currently putting together a film based on the best-selling book, but it won't be a how-to. It'll be a romantic comedy about five couples who are about to have a baby. The movie's director compares it to "Love Actually."

Okay, I've done more than my fair share of complaining about the lack of originality in Hollywood lately, what with the constant reboots and prequels and "re-imagined worlds"—but tell me this doesn't make you want to crotch-punch the nearest studio exec: What to Expect When You're Expecting ... the movie version.

Re-imagined as a romantic comedy.

STARRING CAMERON DIAZ.

I .. I … oh god.

Diaz hasn't officially committed to the project yet, but she's reportedly in final negotiations with Lionsgate. The film is to be directed by Kirk Jones, and in marginally reassuring news, the script was co-written by Shauna Cross (Whip It).

Still, it's hard to imagine what even the most talented writer could do with a pregnancy manual. The sort of pregnancy manual, if I remember correctly, that was typically filled with many dire Worst Case Scenarios ("My baby is turning purple and has grown a horn: is this normal?").

(I also remember a mind-bending chapter that was in one of the follow-up books, What to Expect the First Year, that included both the developmental milestone information that "your baby should now be able to grasp a small object such as a raisin," followed immediately by a frightening list of foods a baby should NEVER EAT EVER for fear of choking. Number one chokable? Raisins.)

Well, apparently they've revamped the bestselling nonfiction manual into a sort of Love Actually thing, where the story follows five couples who are experiencing the many thrills of pregnancy. Diaz is to play a Jillian Michaels type who hosts a fitness show, so I'm sure there will be plenty of gags about how she's getting, like, sooooooo fat.

I can't quite wrap my head around how they even had to secure rights to What to Expect, unless they wanted to capitalize on the name, but I suppose this is good news for pregnancy manual writers everywhere. Hollywood, how about taking a look at Let's Panic About Babies next?

David's Bridal ordered equal numbers of Faviana's Kate and Pippa dresses, while JS Collections ordered more of the Pippa (the Kate will go for $1,800, while the Pippa will go for $320). Moradi thinks that the Kate will outsell the Pippa because "she’s the princess!" Well, duchess, but we're splitting hairs here. Anyway, the only problem with the Pippa, as far as bridesmaid's dresses go, may have been that it made her look too good. Kate seems like the wonderful down-to-earth kind of girl who would be happy for her sister's hotness and Ass Appreciation Society and want her to have the most beautiful bridesmaids dress ever. But are most brides like that?

Blonde bombshell Cameron Diaz managed to steal attention since she first stepped on the big-screen, with her big smile, tall, lean figure, California blonde locks and blue eyes. The diva, now 38, covers Elle Magazine's June 2011 issue and talks about diet and love.

Apparently, this hottie has decided it's time to switch-up her lifestyle and go healthier. Since her split from Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz has been dating and now she found herself a new man, with whom she has been in a relationship for about one year, and apparently it's this relationship that influenced her change of lifestyle.

The 38 year old actress, who has never been married, doesn't feel the need to as she tells the magazine in an interview:
“I think a lot of people are married to people that they’re not romantic with any more. I just didn’t ever marry anybody that I then had to get divorced from. We break up. We move on.”
Her relationship to baseball star Alex Rodrigues seems to be getting serious as their dating is no longer a secret. Cameron Diaz did state in the interview that yes, A-Rod is her boyfriend.

Apparently, the fact that she's been working with her ex, Justin Timberlake doesn't bother her at all, saying that the two are still fiends and wish each-other happiness. She also says that working with Justin has been fun, as the two are good at being funny together.

As far as her new way of life, Cameron says she is now much more careful about what she eats and since she's dating an athlete it's no surprise. Her body has gone through a visible transformation, Cam being now much more muscular. She is now off fried foods and carefully selects her food to get all the nutrients she needs. Cam says:
“I love it. I have never, ever watched what I eat in my life, but I do now. I’m off the fried foods. I’m very thoughtful about what I eat. You have to give your body the right nutrients and really think about what’s best for it.”
“If you’re gonna do heavy lifting, and you want to stay small, you have to watch what you eat.”

Her new way of life seems to have had an impact over Cameron Diaz's outlook on life as she states that she has finally managed to accept certain things and be less cynical. We're used to seeing Cameron flashing a big smile on the red carpet, but apparently she wasn't all that happy in her 20s. She says:
“I’ve gotten less cynical. When I was in my 20s I was not very happy. But I’m a realist. I see things how they are and it’s hard to pretend that they’re anything different.”

Now, the tinsel town is turning its eye on pregnancy manuals with the big screen adaptation of "What To Expect When You're Expecting."

"Expecting," however, won't be about preparing for your new bundle of joy; there will be no mental coaching or healthy pre-natal recipes. Instead, it'll be a romantic comedy -- and Cameron Diaz is expected to sign on for a leading role.

Diaz, who returns to her long-lost humor roots with the sex comedy "Bad Teacher," this summer, would take an unnamed part in the film, which Deadline says will be a sort of "Love Actually," that tells the tales of five couples awaiting a child. She recently remarked that she thought marriage was a dying institution.

EXCLUSIVE: CBS Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to The Woman in Black, the gothic horror thriller that stars Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe, Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer and Shaun Dooley. I'm still pulling together the facts on this one, but I'm told that CBS Films moved aggressively to beat out bidders that included Summit Entertainment, The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media. It becomes the third acquisition deal for the increasingly aggressive CBS Films, following The Mechanic and Gambit, the Michael Hoffman-directed film that began production today with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz starring. Radcliffe plays a young lawyer who travels to a remote village, where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman who is terrifying the locals. James Watkins directed a script by X-Men: First Class scribe Jane Goldman. The film is based on a 1983 novel by Susan Hill that was previously turned into a hit stage play and 1989 miniseries. The film is a co-production between Cross Creek Pictures, Hammer Films & Alliance Films. The pic's produced by Simon Oakes, Richard Jackson and Brian Oliver. Nigel Sinclair, Guy East and Roy Lee are exec producers. CAA brokered the deal with Eric Greenfeld. The picture is in post-production, and a release date hasn't yet been worked out. As we mentioned earlier, Rosie Huntington Whiteley was #1 on Maxim's Hot 100 list while Brooklyn Decker took a backseat to Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus somehow placed above Diora Baird. “I love men more than anything. I want all men to be happy and have rad women in their lives, but guys need women who challenge them and don’t let them get away with their s–t,” Diaz says when asked what relationship advice she has for guys. “Women, conversely, need to not be crazy bitches [...]

"I think a lot of people are married to people they're not romantic with anymore. I just didn't ever marry anybody that I then had to get divorced from. We break up. We move on."

—Cameron Diaz talks in the June issue of Elle UK about the concept of marriage, while promoting her new movie, "Bad Teacher," which also happens to star her ex, Justin Timberlake. Cameron is starting to sound like a broken record when it comes to marriage. Back in June, she said she didn't want to be with someone for 80 years, and preferred her relationships in five year increments.
