@KA I suggest you change the title to "Opera Mobile 11 and Opera Mini 6 launched" only, since Opera Mobile 11 is available for all major smartphone Operating systems, and Opera Mini 6 is also available for all major feature phones & also smartphones.

As for what is my opinion about these new Operas, I say they're great, but i very much prefer UC Browser, IMO if Opera Mobile/Mini is Opera, UC Browser is Chrome.

Here is our monthly summary of NetMarketShare’s Operating System Total Market Share rundown of the significant players for April, 2011 (March ‘11 figures in parentheses), tracking changes over the past month. In summary, this month Windows slipped a bit more but still accounts for nealy 90% of OS installs. The Mac OS made a slight but healthy gain, while the iOS blew past two percent share and then some, more than doubling Linux’s share and eclipsing all other mobile OSs, with Android trailing at .66 percent.

In terms of OS specific versions, evolution is sluggish in the Windows world, with Windows XP and Vista continuing their glacially slow fade, XP now down to 53.18% percent share (but still in front in raw numbers of users by a yawning margin) and Windows 7 continuing to grow share. Apple’s Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard at 19 months since its release in August, 2009 is by far the most prolific Mac OS version, with more than eight times Tiger’s receding user share. Tiger continues to hold on, however—holding steady over the past two months—a stark contrast with Windows, whose OS 10.4 contemporary Windows XP, as noted, is still by far the most prolific version in the Windows space. iOS (iPod, iPad, and iPod versions collectively) consolidates its solid second place in the Apple OS spectrum for the fifth consecutive month, now at 2.24 percent share. JavaME remains ahead of Linux, which seems stalled at less than one percent market penetration.

Browser Share

Turning to browsers, Internet Explorer lost a bit more share on the month while Firefox gained slightly but was still under 22 percent despite the release of the final version of Firefox 4. Chrome growth seems to have finally slowed down after its meteoric rise over the past two years, but still pulling a slight gain after topping 11 percent for the first time last month. Safari was up significantly on the month, now above 7 ercent. Opera rounded out the top five again, share virtually unchanged, while Opera Mini posted a small gain and remained in sixth place. The just discontinued social networking browser Flock remains ahead of the Linux Konqueror browser.

The night I slept rough for charity, I almost passed out. Not from hunger or exhaustion, but from the heat generated by a Pavarotti-sized get-up including three pairs of trousers, a jumper, two fleeces, a ski jacket and two hats.

Yes, two hats. Standing beside the generators that pumped thick, warm air into the railway arch that our tour guide, ex-rough-sleeper Jamie had brought us to, I struggled to breathe as he threw out candid accounts of his nights spent in the pee-fumed cavern with surprising chirpiness. 

Jamie was once a rough-sleeper, circling the city centre on street entreats to earn enough for a "one-white (crack cocaine) one-brown (heroin)" fix. He would then run off with his 'spar' (a nickname given to the person who assists you in the fund-raising, scoping, collection and administration of your chosen drugs), do the deed, then bundle back out to scope the next hit. 

Hearing Jamie say this, I was amazed at how much could be earned just asking people to 'give you money' having always held a lofty prejudice about those who did. 

However, it worried me greatly to hear how quickly he had found himself begging, beaten and eating nothing but biscuits and Freddo bars, so soon after earning a tidy wage as an electrician for the M.O.D. 

Stimulating senses with party drugs

Gobby and popular, Jamie went out raving and misbehaving with his friends on a weekly basis, like most students I see wandering around my town, stimulating his senses on the popular party drugs and then smoking a bit of weed to help him to sleep after. 

But the technique was adapted one night when he was passed a promise of being guided back down to earth like a feather falling onto a pillow. All he had to do was gently tease a little beetle shaped ball of brown on a piece of shiny tin foil and suck it through with a tooter tube. Not a needle in sight.

And after, he told us, he didn't sink five feet into the carpet - Trainspotting-style, he just experienced a feeling akin to the woman in the Lemsip advert sitting in her sofa, getting a big, fluffy cuddle from the fumes of her steaming cup. 

The parent-induced myth of heroin is that as soon as you have done it, you are bound into a permanent addiction that transforms you into some sort of opiate vampire, immediately plunging you into a life sucking the brown blood of dirty needles. 

However, Jamie didn't repeat this experience with haste at all; in fact, he didn't feel any desire to as he'd felt very rough the following days, as a result of his misadventure. 

Chasing the dragon and gouching

It was months later, at another house party when Jamie indulged again, as an ex-smoker would who is certain they are no longer a conscripted slave to nicotine and can do the "odd-one-now-and-again" thing. However, after a few sporadic instances of this and he found himself, sitting in the toilets on the barracks, chasing the dragon and gouching. 

I shan't tell you the rest of the tale because I want to tell you what happened since I heard it. 

I woke up in the church yard at 4am hours after our tour of the popular rough sleeping spots and our soup kitchen supper, mildly panicking because one of my ear plugs had dislodged itself from my ear and fallen into the fatty folds of my sleeping bag.

My feet were wet from a light misting of rain and I was worried that I wasn't going to get my eight hours sleep.

I began to heave myself around my cardboard box, like a walrus in a bath trying to find the escaped article, until I was halted by the gruff voice of a man asking "are you alright?" but inferring "shut up silly girl and go back to sleep".

Embarrassed, I bungled back into my box-shell like a goofy snail and comforted myself with another mini egg, taken from a huge bag that my mum had hidden in my ski jacket pockets when she'd dropped me off.

'I survived the night'

Well, needless to say I survived the night, soldiering on with my one exposed ear to wake to a celebratory bacon sandwich and, guiltily munching away, vowed not to let my pathetic attempt to put myself in the shoes of someone homeless for the night, be the sum of my efforts.

Back at work, I arranged for a theatre company called 'Ice and Fire - Actors for Human Rights' to perform a production of "Broke" for my colleagues and associates in Government Office and then, weeks later I had a call from Simon on the Streets, asking me if I'd like to do some Street Outreach with them, following my participation on the Sleeping Rough night.  Relieved at the second chance and simultaneously 'papping my pants' I took another timid step into the destitute world of homelessness.

During my training I shot a billion questions at Clive, director and trainer, as one would if preparing to be hoisted into the air in one's safe, overly-padded, office chair and parachuted into World War Three. 

I was arming myself with knowledge so that I could soldier through the minefield of parental and societal prejudices and preconceptions.  Not one of my questions was ridiculed or met with annoyance. He caught the bullets, each and every one of them, until my gun was empty.

Hollow of questions, however, I still harboured a dirty secret which I no longer felt able to suppress once the sessions turned to personal-safety training. As Clive told us about the importance of escape routes and risk aversion, I had to let him know the truth.

'I'm a big fat chicken'

Bracing myself for the prison of poltroons I interrupted the group and stuttered: "Clive, when it comes to being assertive in front of aggressive people... I'm a big fat chicken." I waited anxiously for the verdict of cowardice, to be banished into the ineffectuality of going back to work in government office – sans street duties...

"Great!" Clive grinned. "We love chickens. We want chickens. We want all sorts of people. We chose you because of you have something to personally contribute when you're talking to our clients. We want you to use your personal qualities."

I was so relieved. No longer did I feel the need to brandish the fearlessness of Lara Croft. I could be my happy, clucking self and still contribute. In fact, the more I thought about it the more I realised just how much I could contribute, because I may not have the guns of Richard Blackwood but I do have a very open mind, great social skills and a bucket load of empathy.

So charged for battle I waited for the cry (well, ok a text from my allocated support worker and partner in non-crime - Jamie, our enthusiastic tour guide with a start-date).

I had the night, I had the training. I had no more excuses.

First evening of outreach

I met Jamie at 7pm on the first evening of outreach and (it being the winter months and all); we did a circular of the city centre, brandishing a coffee flask and cups. Expecting to be met with a certain degree of hostility, I adhered myself to Jamie's coat sleeve, but then quickly discovered I was in pretty safe hands and with pretty safe people (and I use the word in both contexts).

I didn't say much apart from my name for the first couple of sessions, mainly because I didn't need to - Jamie had enough personality for the two of us, but also because I felt I didn't have any words in my bag that could possibly be of use to someone sitting under a blanket in the bitter cold or in a bus shelter drinking away and telling of a set of circumstances I couldn't even imagine dealing with.

We met a bunch of 'street drinkers', all old pals of Jamie's that flanked him like a modern-day Jesus, asking him a plethora of housing, benefit and health-related questions and Jamie, having done all this for himself at one point, was pretty much the font; whipping out his little black book and marking in appointments to hook up over the next week.

Jamie's role as support worker is like the best friend most people would hope for, someone to encourage them, challenge their negative beliefs, sort out a link for food, transport, chat about all the personal issues and troubles that arise from living in destitution and do it all without judgment or personal discrepancy.

'I was fascinated and hooked'

 
In between stop-offs and out of earshot, Jamie brought me up to speed with the background history of the people we'd chatted to. Some stories were so extreme and some so recognizable that, if I'm honest, I couldn't help but feel I was listening to the synopsis for a soap opera. I was fascinated and hooked.

I had assumed that most of our clients would be grumpy, impatient and aloof; backstabbing their friends to get their drug-induced needs fulfilled and generally quite aggressive in gesture and body language.

However, I felt more welcomed by our clients than most of the students I have met when walking through the door of most Hyde Park house parties. Asking me questions, shaking my hand, attempting to make me laugh, to charm me, to freely and bravely express candid truths about their predicaments, it has been easy to get to know a lot of them. 

Of all our clients, M, I shall call him, has had the biggest effect on me so far. I first saw M when I was about 18, buzzing around Briggate and asking for money off shoppers and business men.

Animatedly bowing to beg their pardon (and a "pound-for-the-bus"), I had watched him from across the street on countless occasions since then over the years, feeling simultaneously threatened and incredulous at the prospect of being asked to part with my hard-earned cash.

Cheeky cad who would probably try to chat me up

So, when Jamie briefed me about meeting "M" one evening, he prepared me for a 'charmer' of a man, a cheeky cad who would probably try to chat me up, but meant no harm.

I was a little bit star-struck when I found myself face-to-face with, who was, for me, the 'face of Leeds homelessness'.

Slurring under cider slurps, but having lost none of his ability to drive the charm-mobile; M reaches for my hand, does a joke-bow like I'm Princess Jasmine and tells me that I'm "beautiful…" (Great!) "like Amy Winehouse!" (Not so), with the ease of a man who is used to winning people over.

He asks why I'm out here, chats me up and gets a bit silly with us, whipping out his Bruce Lee impression to delight Jamie. It is clear that Jamie and M go back a long way and I can instantly imagine them knocking about together in years past.

We're having a lot of fun and it is clear to see why begging has worked for M. He has fantastic social skills, maintains eye contact, truly listens to what you say, has better wit than most and is more generous with compliments to Jamie on his capacity for helping people than most men would afford.

M has dropped himself from 100ml to 30ml on his methadone prescription but has discovered the special brew as a ready brain blotter. In fact, he's now blind drunk every night of the week and beneath the camaraderie is clearly not enjoying it.

He chats to Jamie about a way out of the world he has drunk himself into now and becomes emotional, telling us about his plans to go into rehab. His face reddens as tears fall and then, when he has taken a few deep breaths, he apologises for being soft… 'Soft!'

God. 'Soft' is standing with a rape alarm in your pocket just to pour coffee for someone who hasn't got a house. 'Soft' is crying at Trisha Goddard at 9.30am on a Wednesday morning.

I wouldn't say 'soft' is getting addicted to drugs, having to beg every day for most of your young life to avoid crippling withdrawal pains, managing to have the determination to get yourself onto a 'script' of methadone and shrinking the script from 100ml to 30ml before enduring month after months of DTs, hangovers and wiped-out memories.

Someone so simultaneously determined and afraid

I was so moved by seeing someone so simultaneously determined and afraid and I truly understood his need to get away from it all, to run and sort it all out. Everyone has their issues and I have pushed away from the blocks of familiarity on many occasions trying to sprint from my problems. It is scary and, hard to resist looking back to see who's chasing or waiting in the stands to trip you up.

I doubt I'll ever be addicted to heroin or drinking on the streets but I definitely can't say I'll never feel so miserable about my life that I wish to God it would all just slip away.

I've had mental health issues over the years and have, at one point, joined most of the British population in drinking more than my thirst required to try to forget it all.

In fact throughout my twenties, it has often been a challenge to book a buddy on a Saturday evening without an elixir on the menu, required to cleanse the palate of the aftertaste of a week at work. These days, however, I am sampling pleasures - "sans stimulants"; indulging in literature, nature, theatre, exhibitions and cinema, skanking away to positive reggae tunes and doing the kind of work where my prejudices are blown apart like a bean tin in a microwave.

What M doesn't realise is that handing him some coffee and listening to his stories is probably doing way more for me than it is him (he often gets so excited telling them that he spills most of it on himself anyway)  but I walk down the street now and feel differently about people.

I don't tut as loud when someone walks into me or get annoyed at the students screaming my street down each week in the centre of Headingley.

I've realised that we're all dealing with it as best we can, some of us loving it, others tolerating and some of us trying to hover above it all in a cloud of intoxication.

I have now stripped myself of the prejudice-padded armour I wore on my first few Outreach sessions and march around with nothing but a heavy flask and an open mind. I hope to walk this way for some time.

Google Images with Date Annotations
Sometimes when you’re searching for a particular topic, you want to see the most recent images for that subject. For instance, you might want to find images related to the recent Masters Golf Tournament. Searching Google Images will give you a lot of images related to the Masters, but it’s hard to quickly tell which pictures are from this year’s tournament.

This week, we’re introducing a change that should make finding recent images a lot easier—Google Images with Date Annotations. Now, we’ll add date annotations right to the thumbnails of images that were uploaded recently. Try it out on any recent news or event query, such as Charl Schwartzel winning that coveted green jacket.


More Instant results around the world
Bringing the speed of instant search results to new countries, Google Instant is now available for more people around the world. Signed-in searchers in the British Virgin Islands, Ghana, Greenland, Kenya, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda will see results faster with Instant, and French searchers will now see Instant results even when signed-out.


Instant Previews update
Last November, we launched Instant Previews, a quick way to get a visual overview of the search results before you click on them. Since launch, we’ve made a number of improvements that we’re excited to share:

• Flash is now supported—for most previews, we’ll render a screenshot of the flash component in the preview, rather than just displaying a puzzle piece icon.
• Instant Previews is now integrated with Google Quick Scroll. Users who have Quick Scroll installed (either as a Chrome extension or as part of Google Toolbar) can click on a highlighted area within an Instant Preview, and we’ll scroll you directly to that section of the page.
• Instant Previews can now be used on mobile devices, Android tablets, iPads and the Opera browser.
• Previews support additional result types, including .doc and .ppt files; and video results have a new, playable interface.

Google Search dictionary tool
To help you quickly access definition content, we’ve brought our dictionary feature into the left-hand panel in search. For example, search for [legerdemain] and you can find its definition by selecting “Dictionary” on the left. You’ll also see examples of the word “legerdemain” in context from news, related phrases, synonyms and more. One click on the translation tool brings you to Google Translate for all your bilingual needs. We’re also enhancing other dictionary search features, including a refreshed look for your dictionary look-up queries such as “define legerdemain” and “what is legerdemain” in the search results. We’ve rolled out a redesigned Google News for Opera Mini in 29 languages and 70 editions to bring people greater mobile access to top stories and news search. Opera has just released a stable, final version of its latest browser – Opera 11.10 or better known as its codename – Barracuda. 11.10 brings a handful of noticeable improvements to the web-browser. Improved HTML5 support, mail client improvements, updated rendering engine and better battery management on laptops. Speed Dial gets a brand new overhaul, while Opera Turbo has been turbo charged. The feature that allows users to browse sites in Turbo Mode (similar to Opera Mini – sites are sent to an external server for compression and then only delivered to the Opera browser) is now said to be 4 times faster according to Opera. Yep, @Opera has twittered out 2000 status updates. For seasoned Twitter users, that may not sound like a lot, but as a company, we try to say more less often so we don't bombard our followers with "OMG these pancakes are kicky sweet!" or "What pants should I wear today?"

What do we say, then? Well, I thought it would be interesting to take a look back to see if we at Opera talk the talk that our users expect. Here's what we've said, the larger the word the more frequent it's use just like the Tag Cloud you can put in your My Opera sidebar (usernames and simple words like 'this, a, if, the' have been removed).

There's quite a bit going on here! I had to remove the word "opera" because it was tweeted 1165 times out of 2000, making it so large, the rest were nearly unreadable. :lol: Our next most tweeted words were mini (186 times), thanks (160 times :flirt: ), mobile (154 times), and about 300 links and old style retweets (we like to share, like any healthy twitterer). I think it's safe to say we share and give thanks quite a bit with Twitter.

...Man, I'm glad pancakes and pants didn't register too high!

Your Conclusions

You've heard my thoughts, but we really want to know yours. What conclusions can you draw from this data? Does @Opera talk the talk our community expects from us? I think we have room for pancakes.

This month’s Second Saturday was very busy and it appeared that with new regulations the crowds seemed larger than ever. The weather had a lot to do with this perceived observation as well as police presence throughout Midtown.

The Saturday Midtown Bazaar moved outdoors across the street from its regular home on I and 16th. DJ Will played some oldies and goodies just outside the regular Midtown Bazaar garage building. Inside the building Amber Villegas’ completed mural could be seen as well as the mural being worked on by some of her students.

After grabbing a bite at the Mini Burger Truck we moved on to view some art at the Brick Alley Art Studios. In and around the studio artists worked on their art and answered questions. Pamphlets were being handed out by the UC Davis Mind Institute representatives reminding us that April is National Autism Awareness Month. A band played outside as people looked around the other galleries in the area. The band’s name, I believe, was The Dions but if someone knows for sure please comment on the article.

On my way over to another art gallery I ran into The Midnight Moonshiners performing on the alley on the 1700 block of Capitol Avenue. I also noticed another restaurant on wheels serving food. The Mama Kim Cooks catering truck sold food and drink on the alley.

At La Raza Galería Posada Sergio Martinez and Eleazar Morales worked on a piece of art during the Oaxaca Textiles and Alebrijes exhibit and reception. Sergio Martinez was working on weaving another tapestry creation. Many of his tapestries were on exhibit on walls and some were for sale. The laborious process takes quite some time. I asked him about a 4X6 piece hanging next to where he was working. Sergio indicated that it may take 20 to 25 days to create something like that working around 10 hours a day.

His tapestries are original designs hand woven and it has been a tradition through various generations. Many international celebrities and rug collectors own his work. The piece he was working on was in its beginning stages and a drawing of the finished product was near-by. He spends his time living in both Mexico and the United States. He was passing on the tradition to one of his sons who was on hand. The exhibit will run until May 14, 2011.

Working nearby was Eleazar Morales a well-known Oaxacan woodcarving artist. His exhibit sits in the middle of the gallery. Eleazar is recognized for his woodcarving and use of color as he creates beautiful sculptures. His creations are of living and extinct animals as well as mythical beast and political, social and religious scenes. He has a website where you can find out more about the artist and view his art. An online store is available for purchasing some of his beautiful creations.

The Spanish Fly Hair Garage had some music, art and fashion show on tab and dropped by after noticing another restaurant on wheels just outside their door. The place was very well packed and as we made our way to the back Im Dirty Too was finishing up their performance of the night. Jess Gowrie and Zac Brown played an enjoyable set and made me wish we had gotten there earlier.

A fashion show took place at the front salon. Meticulous hairdos with lovely outfits and lovely models were paraded down a short catwalk. On the side DJ Dan provided music during the fashion show.

Over on 20th Street between J and K some performers from Dr. Horrible were on hand to promote A Sing Along Weekend at the Historic Colonial Theatre. Performances for Dr. Horrible and Amber’s Sweets Repo, the Genetic Opera will be held on April 29 and 30. Ashley Porciuncula handed out flyers for the show and other Repo cast members were on hand as well.

The Sacramento Art Complex was my next stop to view photographer Alister Oliver’s Sacramento City Scapes exhibit and also to view his latest copy of Hidari Maki Issue 2 Winter/Spring 2011 since it contained the Masquerade Gala article I wrote for the Sacramento Press.

I’ve been an admirer of Mr. Oliver’s work for a while now and his Sacramento City Scapes photography was nothing less than splendid. He was at his studio chatting with a friend when I came by and looked at Issue 2 of Hidari Maki. As visitors filed in an out of the studio I admired other work on he had on hand and noticed a model in one of his portfolios that was present at the Spanish Fly Hair Garage. I said goodbye and moved around the other studios at the Art Complex.

My final stop for the evening was at the Splash Bar on 15th Street. The Diamond Dolls hosted the Babes n Bikes event. DJ DNA, DJ Louie Giovanni and DJ Passion provided music. My Evil Twin Choppers provided two bikes for the event for photo shoots.

Photographers, models and fashion representatives were on hand to enjoy the festivities for the evening that progressed rather well except for a minor incident. It was a time for fashion and other industry representatives to meet and socialize.

Although I was expecting things to be a little different it appeared that most were the same on this Second Saturday. Things appeared to close down early and police presence through the main areas where Second Saturday is enjoyed was observed but people enjoyed a nice April evening. Second Saturday still belongs to art and those that enjoy its benefits.

i use yahoo messenger from opera mini in my mobile phone .. and i send sms to my friends with in the sms option in the yahoo messenger ..the problem is my friends are recieving the sms i am sending them but i am not getting the reply they are sending to me this problem started happening from 3 to 4 days .my friends say they replied but i didnt got any of them ...i sometimes get one sms from there 9 -10 replies ..help me out i am really irritated by this please
