Jean Claude Van Damme is the Villain in The Expendables 2 Its being reported this afternoon that Jean-Claude Van Damme has been confirmed as one of the main villains in The Expendables 2.

Sylvester Stallone has long toyed with having Jean-Claude Van Damme come aboard for this follow-up to the extremely popular action ensemble, often poking fun at the Muscles from Brussels on his personal Twitter account for not being man enough to take on what will surely be an intense shoot. The news of Jean-Claude Van Damme coming aboard didn't stem from there, though, as Sylvester Stallone has been suspiciously absent on the social networking site since January 29th.

This news actually came from Jean-Claude Van Damme's longtime collaborator, Sheldon Lettich, the writer-director behind Double Impact and Lionheart, who was advised by Van Damme himself that he would be playing a villain, presumably against Bruce Willis, who has long been set to play the main villain in the movie.

For the past few moths, Sylvester Stallone has gone back and forth on whether or not he will return to direct The Expendables 2. Last we heard, he was looking for a director to take over the project so he could focus more on the acting part of the job. Of course, that could change again anytime in the near future.

Sylvester Stallone is set to star in the Walter Hill-directed Headshot before embarking on The Expendables 2.

US financial regulator to investigate links between short selling and abusive market practices

The SEC is looking at two proposals to make short sales more visible and transparent in real time. 

The agency is seeking public comment on a proposal to voluntarily add short sale-related marks to the consolidated tape and to require reporting of short positions to regulators, making those data available publicly either simultaneously or after a delay.

The SEC released a request for comment on its website yesterday, asking for input on the costs, benefits, feasibility and market impacts of the proposals.

Of particular interest to IROs, the SEC estimates that short sales account for nearly 50 percent of listed equity share volume, based on an examination of June 2010 market activity. 

Among the 23 questions on which the agency is seeking comment is one concerning how ‘short selling has been associated with abusive market practices’ including ‘bear raids’ or other market manipulation. 

While acknowledging legitimate reasons for short selling, such as market-making functions, the SEC also asks for comment on other reasons for short selling and queries ‘how much of all short selling is accounted for by bona fide market making?’

Since 2007, total short interest in each listed security has been reported twice each month by the exchange on which the security is listed.

As one of several studies mandated by the Dodd-Frank financial reforms, the commission’s report to Congress on the issue is required by July 21. 

The study itself is being conducted by the SEC’s Division of Risk, Strategy and Financial Innovation, which was created in the fall of 2009 by combining the Office of Economic Analysis with the Office of Risk Assessment. The division’s focus is on risk and economic analysis, strategic research and financial innovation.

SAN BRUNO, CA -- YouTube has been an essential platform for videos of street violence in the Middle East, mostly camera phone uploads of events not covered by the news media. 

The footage is raw and often contain graphic violence which may not be suitable for the giant sharing site. 

While explicit violent videos are not permitted on YouTube, the video sharing site has made an exception for news aroud the uprising in the Middle East,says Olivia Ma, Manager of News.
