Happy Friday! And back to our regularly scheduled programming, a.k.a. me test-driving my way through my bounty of beauty prodz. I think you'll really enjoy this week's picks: a new collection of body washes, lotions and soaps with fragrance notes that could easily pass for designer; a fun little pedicure kit that features mermaids (yes! mermaids!); awesomely packaged limited-edition powder compacts from one of our favourite drugstore brands; new cream blushes from another one of our favourite (grocery store) brands; and easily the softest, most easy-to-apply eyeliner you'll ever come across. Here's the vid. Bonus points for catching all the times I say "super-cute" or "super-cool." What can I say, everything IS super today.

I remember when Sketcher’s Shape-Ups came out, and they were so expensive - I remember prices close to $200. I was mildly interested in these shoes, but not -=that=- interested. $200 for a pair of trainers? You’ve got to be kidding me. So when I went to Costco because I needed new trainers, and I saw Shape-Ups for $50 (and found them in my size!), I got a pair and wore them for about a month. Last weekend, while we had a brief sunny episode, I walked to Costco and bought another pair. I’ve now got my “summer” trainers (white with light blue) and my “winter” trainers (black). Laugh all you want, but I haven’t bought new trainers in six years, and the ones I did buy were really inexpensive - I think they ended up being $15 a pair, with the BOGO sale. One pair - my “winter” trainers - died this past winter. The other pair isn’t dead yet, because I tend to wear sandals in the spring and summer; but who knows when the Sketchers may pass through Costco again? In other news, if you’re in the US or Canada…you’ve all gotten your Mother’s Day cards and gifts and suchwhich for your moms, right?
