GANDHI and BUNG KARNO

Gandhi often said that his life was his message. And if we study his life we would find 3 main messages of his core teaching:

Satyagraha, Swadeshi, Ahimsa. Satyagraha consists of two words,  ‘Satya means ‘the truth’ and ‘Agraha” means ‘request’. However, Agraha  is not an ordinary request. It is 'a request by and for the truth,  virtue, and justice’. It is 'a request without compromise’ because the  truth does not need to compromise.

In the language of Bung Karno the Architect of the modern Indonesian  Republic– it is “strong determination”. Strong determination as well as  Satyagraha – emerges from a strong and unshakable conviction in  something.

The slogan of Bung Karno ‘Once Independent - Independent Forever” is the manifestation of a Strong Determination – Resoluteness.

Gandhi’s Satyagraha is no other than and no different from the  ‘Strong Determination’ of Sukarno. The languages are different, the  expressions are different, the idioms are different but the essence is  the same. The meaning is the same.

In the language of our forefathers, it is ‘Ichhaa Shakti’ Will  Power: a Strong Will. Without ‘willpower’ we cannot do something  extraordinary.

Bung Karno said that we can build small meaningless bridges – but we  cannot build skyscrapers without determination, without willpower.

Satyagraha and strong determination derived from Swadeshi (Product)  from one’s own country. It is the general meaning of swadeshi. More than  that, swadeshi also means self-reliance.

In the language of Bung Karno it is self-sufficiency, or to be  independent. What does it actually mean? It means to recognize one’s own  potential – and to empower yourself (Self-empowerment). In the language  of our ancestors it is called ‘Gyana Shakti” The Power of Knowledge,  Intelligence, and Wisdom.

To know one’s self means to know one’s potential and also to empower  yourself and to add to what one is lacking. So, it is not about knowing  yourself passively “Oh, we are only common people anyway”. No.

To know yourself means to realize your own potential fully. Gandhi  was an ordinary human being – Sukarno was also an ordinary human being.  We can also reach what they have reached. Why not?

For that reason the means that Gandhi suggested and used was Ahimsa, which means Non-violence.

What has become the basis of this principle? Bung Karno explained to  his son, Guntur, who was an adolescent, ‘Tat Tvam Asi’. The basis that I  am You and You are Me.

Is there something that distinguishes one human being from another?  We are all human beings who live on the same planet Earth, under the  same sky as well. ‘One Earth, One Sky, One Humankind’

Not only the violence we committed against our fellow human  beings, but also the violence we committed against all sentient beings  has impacts on ourselves.

We hunt the innocent birds. They are dead – the caterpillars that  become their food grow and multiply freely. And later they become a  plague which attacks our fields and our bodies.

Ahimsa means Loving, Caring, and Sharing – love each other, care for each other and share with each other.
It  is ‘Gotong Royong” (cooperation) in the terms of Bung Karno. Without  the cooperation principles – one for all, all for one – we become petty  human beings, narrow-minded, and selfish.

In the language of our ancestors, it is Kriya Shakti or The Power of  Action. It means, it is not only a concept or philosophy but it is  something applicable. It’s something that has to be practiced.

The three mantras, Satyagraha, Swadeshi, and Ahimsa, Strong  Determination, Independence, and Cooperation are the amulets which can  save our nation.

And not only can it save our nation but also other nations in the  world. These three mantras are the World Savior. It is the Messiah; it  is the Mahatma that is awaited by the world.

Therefore, we have to apply those mantras in our own life. Yes, to  apply! These mantras are not to be uttered, repeated like a parrot.  These mantras must be lived, done, practiced.

Be assured that you also can become Gandhi or Bung Karno if you have a  strong determination, believe in your ability, and work together to  help each other. Not only New Indonesia is in sight but also the New  World. Be the connector, contributor to that new world. Be the citizen  of that new world. Yes, you can! q - o. (2842-2011).

Detractores de consulta popular en Honduras serían “garantes” en referéndum ecuatoriano Tegucigalpa, 06 de mayo de 2011. Delegados del régimen hondureño, estarán entre los 16 países observadores de América Latina, en el referéndum que impulsa el gobierno de la Revolución Ciudadana del presidente, Rafael Correa, en Ecuador, para consultar al pueblo sobre cinco posibles futuras reformas constitucionales. Justo por organizar una consulta a la ciudadanía, un contingente militar, en el golpe al Estado de Honduras, en junio de 2009, expulsó del país al entonces presidente constitucional, Manuel Zelaya, apenas consultando si se colocaba una cuarta urna en los comicios de noviembre, para votar a favor o en contra de una constituyente. En cambio, en Ecuador cerca de 55 mil militares están listos para hacer uso de su voto facultativo y expresar en las urnas su acuerdo, o desacuerdo, con el plebiscito y el referéndum simultáneo que busca consenso popular para reformar la ley primaria, básicamente para mejorar el funcionamiento del sistema judicial. A pesar de esa información que circula en el mundo, el régimen hondureño no ha dado detalles sobre la mencionada representación de observadores en el plebiscito y referéndum, simultáneos, en el Ecuador. La delegación hondureña representa al régimen que resultó de unas “votaciones vistas” por individuos y organizaciones particulares, en plena represión militar y policial, con ausencia de organismos regionales como la OEA y con la abstención expresa de la observancia electoral del estadunidense Centro Carter. Aunque una mayoría de países ha ido reconociendo al régimen de Porfirio Lobo, a instancias del gobierno de los Estados Unidos, su reingreso a la Organización de Estado Americanos (OEA), de la que fue suspendida el 04 de julio de 2009, está pendiente y Lobo aspira a que ello ocurra en la próxima asamblea de junio. El presidente agraviado, Zelaya, coordinador del Frente de Resistencia, ha insistido siempre en favorecer la readmisión de Honduras en la OEA para no agravar la aguda situación económica del país, consecuencia del golpe de Estado. Zelaya viajó a Ecuador a mediados del año pasado, y propuso una iniciativa a los países latinoamericanos, socializada precisamente junto al presidente Correa, quien mantiene una posición de no reingresar Honduras a la OEA sin que ésta cumpla condiciones. También apoyó recién, la mediación del presidente venezolano, Hugo Chávez, de igual manera sujeta a cuatro irrenunciables. Con todo, el régimen cumple requerimientos de modo formal y superficial, como anular los procesos impostados contra Zelaya, sin eliminar la supuesta causa: un desembolso emergente por publicidad que, según un experto, más bien evidencia el acoso que grupos fácticos y los medios tenían contra el gobierno de Zelaya. Al contrario, la Fiscalía asegura que aunque acepta el fallo y la reposición denegada, rectificará “lo que se dejó de hacer en el procedimiento” porque no hacerlo atrasaría el proceso; y “acatando de inmediato, continuamos con las investigaciones y los requerimientos”. La dictadura mediática y la subasta de Honduras El día de ayer garífunas miembros de la OFRANEH, nos manifestamos en contra del circo denominado Honduras Open for Business (HOB), estrategia de la actual administración de Pepe Lobo, para subastar el país a inversionistas extranjeros. El manejo de la participación de los garífunas en el plantón efectuado, fue manipulado por los medios de comunicación, los cuales casi en su totalidad son cómplices del golpe de estado y de la violencia imperante en Honduras. Las tomas y entrevistas efectuadas ayer en San Pedro, tergiversan la posición asumida por la OFRANEH, de repudio a la pretensión de subastar a Honduras por retazos. Pero teniendo en cuenta la tradición de entreguismo y autoritarismo del Partido Nacional, las comunidades que se encuentran dentro del área de influencia de los proyectos serán desalojadas o simplemente convertidas en mano de obra en condiciones feudales. El poder de distorsión de los medios en el país, se reduce a los intereses políticos y económicos de Jaime Canahuati Larach, Carlos Flores, Ferrari, Maduro y Rosenthal; empresarios convertidos en políticos con el fin de incrementar sus capitales más que servir al pueblo hondureño. El panorama de violencia y corrupción en Honduras misteriosamente ofrece un atractivo para el capital extranjero. Los indicadores socio económicos señalan la existencia de un verdadero desastre, que en parte se debe adjudicar la autoría intelectual a los organismos financieros internacionales y sus recetas de empobrecimiento de la gran mayoría en beneficio de la pequeña elite de poder. Es indudable que existe una enorme necesidad de creación de empleos en Honduras. No obstante las condiciones laborales enmarcadas en la nueva Ley de flexibilización del mercado laboral, diluyen las conquistas sociales que se lograron con mucho esfuerzo a lo largo del siglo pasado, las que fueron destruidas en breves sesiones del poder legislativo, sin tener en cuenta las objeciones presentadas por la clase obrera. The Los Angeles Lakers blew a 16 point lead in game one, got bullied at home the next game and failed to keep the lead in game three.

The Lakers played the game without Ron Artest, who was suspended for hitting Jose Barea in game two. Though, L.A. led 51-47 at halftime after the Lakers went on an 11-2 rally. in late second quarter.

The Dallas Mavericks trailed by seven points with five minutes remaining. Dallas hadn't led since the second quarter and the crowd became silent. Dirk Nowitzki hit a 3-pointer and Peja Stojakovic came up with another, bringing the team and the fans back to life. The Mavericks went on an 18-6 rally to seal the victory and possibly the series.

Los Angeles had a chance to take the victory, as they regained the lead in the final minutes, 89-88, but Jason Terry hit a 3-pointer from the corner and gave the Mavs the lead. Lamar Odom hit a jumper over P. Stojakovic to tie the ball game at 91, but it was all Dallas since then.

D. Nowitzki scored 32 points for Dallas. J. Terry added 23, P. Stojakovic came up with 15 points. L.A. was led by Andrew Bynum's 21 points and 10 rebounds. Lamar Odom scored 18 points, Kobe Bryant added 17.

The Mavericks lead 3-0, and no theam in NBA history has ever come back from such a deficit. Dallas will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon at home.

"CHICAGO" CHUCK GULLENSlanded in Southern California after spending his high school years in Las Vegas, and his college years in Kansas and Wyoming. While attending The University of Wyoming, he helped found one of the hardest working Blues bands in the country, BLINDDOG SMOKIN'. BLINDDOG spent the better part of twenty years playing in excess of 250 dates a year all over the world. In his travels, Chuck has shared the stage with such diverse artists as Wynton Marsalis, Jonny Lang, B.B. King, Bobby Rush, Marshal Tucker, and many more. As a seasoned and accomplished drummer and percussionist, Chuck lays a deep pocketed foundation and brings a diverse amalgamation of styles to ONLY THE BRAVE.

DIG LEWIS the remarkable musician, composer, and conductor has toured extensively with major performing artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Benson, John Mellencamp, Boz Skaggs. Always in demand, Dig has also played bass for Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and more. When he’s not stroking the bass he composes music for film and television. As a child prodigy, Dig became an accomplished violin, viola and cello musician at the age of 13 in Detroit, Michigan, where he played on some of the earliest of Motown’s famous R&B sound tracks. Lewis followed these remarkable accomplishments by serving as a junior concert master for the Detroit Junior Symphony orchestra for three years, while concentrating his attention toward composing and conducting a diverse variety of musical scores. During this time, he conducted orchestrations and concerts for notables such as Frank Sinatra and the Pointer Sisters.

He is an alumnus of the University of Arizona and also attended Wayne State University and the University of Detroit. ROBERT “CHALO” ORTIZ Chalo named after his famous grandfather who shared the stage with the legendary Trace (Three) Ponchos. Robert Sr.Ortiz. states that Chalo picked up the guitar at an early age of eight and has not put the guitar down since. Coming from a family of musicians music was ingrained in his blood. Chalo practiced every day to the likes of Santana, EL Chicano and others. It certainly has paid off. His first band The Night Creatures”, was a blues band. He played the blues like he owns the stage. This path is worn smooth from thousands of years of traffic. The trail  runs  from north to southern Kona for almost 100 miles as I recall. It visits all the great stone quarries (the hardest lava was rare and was used as a trade item) and important villages. Later, warriors would camp on the trail and leave their marks and etchings by the trail as memontos of their deeds and as signals to others of their passing.

One lava field we passed though has over 100,000 petroglyphs. Were it not for the heat I could have spent weeks in there taking photos.  

It is known as the King's Road, as King Kamehameha's armies frequented it often as they prepared for battles and made camps by the trail during their journeys.

It gets very hot on this stone trail in the mid-day sun. 

If you ever stay at the Waikoloa Hilton, then this trail is

in walking distance from your hotel room. Though few guests at the Hilton know it's so close or would leave the pool and beer for such scenery.

Softball Season Begins

Well, we lobbed a missile and is wasn't a strike. Strike one ball one.

Do we smell blood in the water? Do we need to go in and now get AA and maybe Zawahirri? Are some thinking this would be an unstoppable campaign resume'?

Hmmm hard to argue with success... or failure.

Tread lightly and let's not let a success be followed up by failures it could be seen as over reaching. Or over campaigning.

Berk Richards and Lucia Bujang have been stealing money from people all over the world for years under the guise that an up front payment will in case guarantee said person a loan. the upfront payment comes, the loan never does and they dissapear to another country but surprisingly they have been using the same names in as many as fifteen different countries. These people should be considered on Interpols most wanted list and work should be underway to apperehend them but after months of contact with Interpol, IC3, FBI, CIA and local police i have had no luck. Someone please help find these people and stop the from ripping more people off. Thank you.

We did a road trip from WI to SD last week and it was wonderful. I've includud a few photos from along the way.

The first 5 are from SD. I-90 is a l-o-n-g stretch from east to west. Of course we stopped at Wall Drug, the Badlands, and Mt. Rushmore. Photos 6 & 7 are from Minnesota. The last photo is from WI, on our way home. Gas in SD was $3,79 - $3.85, along the interstate. When we got home gas was $4.29-$4.39. Every mile was worth it. We had our credit cards with us, so that helped a lot, at least until the bills come. We truly enjoy road trips, and we will still travel this summer, just not as far as usual. Gas prices are effecting us!
