The fuel leak repair turned out to be a non-event. I tightened a few hose clamps, turned on the fuel, and away she went. Conni tried the propeller by putting the transmission in gear and it smoothly pushed water around. We're set to go tomorrow.

We've been busy. The boat is ship shape and ready to go. We have our new rudder in, thanks to Mark and Whit in the water guiding it in and me at the top pulling on a bit of string, holding my breath, whilst waiting to see if the bolt would go through at the correct place on the shaft. Because we would have been shafted if it hadn't. We only have to put the other one in tomorrow morning, fill up with fuel and water, check out of customs and we're off. The kids have had a great time here in Grenada with other boat kids and so we all headed over to de Big Fish to say goodbye to all their friends tonight. Fresh produce in the fridge, Mark's tools back where they belong – boat's looking good! This blog's a little disjointed as my mind is on other things (what have we forgotten? Will Whit find his sea legs? Where am I going to put those extra tins now Mark has taken one of my cupboards away? ) so I'll end there for now. We are more than likely heading straight for Panama – 1080nms, so I'll try to update as we sail, but if the SSB radio isn't playing ball, we'll next update in about 10-12 days time. xx

The wonderful wind on the beam we enjoyed the last couple of days died last night. This is what we had expected from the GRIB forecast. The wind is now only about 5 kts and the seas are flat and glassy calm. It looks like the doldrums out there. So we turned on the irony genny and we are motoring along.

On the way from Honeymoon to Ballandra we swung in close to Loreto to snag cel phone coverage and internet - worked great. Kt was able to wish her mom Happy Mothers Day and we finally got to hear the voice of our kids after 4 weeks. On to Ballandra - just another beautiful anchorage in Mexico. We'd heard from other boaters that the Bees were really bad in Ballandra but, like the Fire House, a lot of information passed along to others is "urban legend." In other words - a semi-bad deal happens to one boat and by the time it goes around the "net" a few times is quadrupled in significance. Having heard more good about Ballandra than bad we figured the Bees were a legend. Coming into Ballandra is striking - rather small entrance opens to the large bay. We'd been hoping to connect with friends on Cirgue (they'd gone WAY north and were working back to Mazatlan) - sure enough they came in around 1P and we planned a big get together on Missteak with them, Di's Dream and Destiny later in the day. Soon the Cirque crew came by to invite us on a hike (mistake!!!). I have a whole new appreciation for "Death March" after stumbling through the desert with Louis and Laura. First there was the Cactus, then the river bed path (deep sand), then there was absolutely no breeze (HOT), but the topper was the two 4 to 5 foot yellow snakes that can roaring out of the brush. Amazing - fat and fast (scared of us thankfully). So we marched on until Kt raised her hand to yell UNCLE (thank god) and back to the beach (funny how remote areas look different when you turn around hoping to find your way back to the start...). So back on the boat to get ready for the party and there are a couple of Bees. No big deal we think - swat the problem and keep preparing. Soon there are more Bees and then MORE Bees. Before long there are hundred of Bees swarming around. So we quickly install screens onto every hatch, close the companion way (main door) and hunker down - we are under siege (seriously). There are hundreds if not thousands (how can you tell) of Bees flying around (one of which I place my bare sized 10 on....). We try everything - vinegar, water (big mistake), orange soap and Windex - nothing deters them. So the party location is changed to Di's Dream (they've closed up and are running the A/C) - Destiny is also under attack and John is deathly allergic. With all access points locked down, Kt goes about cooking our contribution to the party (I'm drinking cold beer - it's hot in the closed up boat). Soon it's time to move - we decide to just make a run for it which works fine. As we leave the boat we notice the Bee 'Love Fest" going on at our aft shower (the photo) - we can't get away fast enough. At dark - all gone including those we'd smashed (now that's weird - we'll be looking that one up on the internet....).. We're out of here first thing in the AM.

Below is just a quick update on our position but we where so pleased when we arrived in Corfu it was like a milestone for us now and we feel at home as the lingo is what we here it in Cyprus, Cyprus here we come. We are currently on mainland Greece in Prevenza heading through the Leftos canal today and hoping to be going through the Corinth canal in 3-4days weather permitting. In the Agean seas it is still very windy at moment so we are hoping it has calmed down before we get there.
