I think I speak for everyone in the broadcast TV business when I say how great it is not to have Mother's Day on the Sunday before Upfront Week this year but a week earlier. Let's enjoy it as it will get pretty crazy pretty fast. There is speculation that Fox may pick up its hot comedy pilots THE NEW GIRL and FAMILY ALBUM as soon as Monday or Tuesday. Two other notes before we check out the standings at each network heading into pre-upfront week. It's shaping up to be a bitchy development season as both pilots with "Bitch" in their titles - ABC's GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES and THE BITCH AT APT. 23 - are read-hot and certain to land on the schedule (obviously with new titles). And it looks like the first major Comcast-NBC synergy move will find its way to primetime as NBC appears high on the pilot from E! star Chelsea Handler. It's been nearly two decades since Scott Baio livened up the primetime line-up with "Charles in Charge," but he'll be returning to series TV with Nick at Nite's new "Daddy's Home." Baio will play an actor who has to put his career on hold to be a stay-at-home dad to honor a promise to his wife so she can return to her pre-children life as a soap opera star, according to Deadline.com. CNN is shutting down its New York City-based graphics department, centralizing all graphics staffers in its Atlanta headquarters.

A spokeswoman for CNN explained the decision in a statement:

Our current graphics software can no longer meet our business needs, and the new technology requires operation from a central location. Consequently, we are moving all graphic positions to Atlanta, where the majority of the graphics staff are based already.

In addition to the technological improvement, we think this new structure will be helpful to create consistency across all of our platforms.

CNBC SVP Jeremy Pink is leaving the network. Writes CNBC president Mark Hoffman in an email to staff obtained by TVNewser, “After his successful, decade-long tenure at CNBC on three continents, Jeremy Pink has decided to move on.”

Pink returned to the U.S. two years ago this month to head up CNBC’s news operations after the departure of Jonathan Wald, now EP of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight.” Pink’s final day in Englewood Cliffs is today.

Pink is being replaced by former Wall Street Journal executive Nikhil Deogun who joined CNBC in February 2010. At WSJ, Deogun was deputy managing editor for financial coverage and of the Journal’s international bureaus. Deogun joined WSJ as a reporter in Atlanta in 1994.

The one-hour special, hosted and reported by Dennis Murphy, will run tonight at 10pmET on the cable news channel. NBC military analyst Gen. On his Fox News show today, Neil Cavuto had former Navy Seal Benjamin Smith in studio talking about his experience, the inner workings of being a Seal and other possible details about the operation to take out Osama Bin Laden.

Smith was on for most of the hour as Pres. Obama was speaking from Ft. Campbell, KY where he visited with troops who took part in Sunday’s mission. About 45 minutes into the show, Cavuto said, “Two things I’ve been trying to work on… getting his take on all of this and seeing if he would be interested in going out with my daughter. I don’t know if I’m making any progress on the later part, but honey if you’re watching, I’m telling you…”

Later, Cavuto said, “Thank you very much. I will give you the details on my daughter and her e-mail and all that. You think I am kidding?”

“I’m blushing past my make-up,” said Smith not saying “yes” or “no” to the hook-up.

With the news that ABC canceled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," soap opera fans are wondering if other soaps are in danger of the same fate. Alison Sweeney, who has played Sami on "Days of our Lives" since 1993, says she understands how great the loss of those shows is for fans. "It hits close to home. It's really sad," Sweeney tells Zap2it while promoting the Hill's Science Diet "Million Pound Pledge" for pets. "I know, like many soap opera actors do, when you meet fans, that soaps have been a part of their family for generations. They've watched it with their mom or their grandma and it's close to their heart... It's hard to say goodbye."On the other hand, Sweeney says she understands the business side of daytime soaps and the challenge the industry faces in order to keep the shows viable."They have to find a way to make money," she says....

Eglee and to be directed by Michael Dinner, is a police procedural set in a world where superpowers are relatively common and centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, in a Homicide department that deals with cases involving "powers" (people with superpowers). Dutton will play Captain Cross, the head of the department. Powers, from Sony Pictures TV and FX Prods., is one of 2 drama pilots FX is eying for a an early January launch. Camilla Luddington, who just portrayed Kate Middleton in the Lifetime film William and Kate, has booked a major recurring role on the upcoming season of Showtime's dark comedy Californication. In an 8-episode arc, Luddington, repped by Main Title and Progressive Artists, will play  a nanny who gets fired from her job and comes to work for Charlie and Marcy.
